Lauri Oksanen
Research career started in fiber optics in his alma mater Helsinki University of Technology and continued in Nokia. Moved in Nokia to mobile systems and worked from 2G to 5G.
In addition to mobile technology, led all aspects of communications technology research including internet, IoT, software and cloud technologies, managing a group of several hundred researchers spanning three continents.
Set up both the 4G and 5G research programs in Nokia resulting in Nokia leadership in standardization and networking technology with several industry firsts.
From 2016 onwards led all standardization in Nokia, including 5G, until retiring in the beginning of 2020. After that has dedicated time to setting up and guiding a new Finnish foundation to improve transfer of research results to economical and societal benefit.
Lauri has two children. He enjoys reading, skiing and other outdoors.
