Hemanth Sampath, Qualcomm
Hemanth Sampath is the VP of engineering at Qualcomm, driving expansion of 5G/6G into new devices and use-cases such as XR/metaverse, cloud gaming and private networks. He also leads the Qualcomm University Relations Platforms program, enabling educators to incorporate Snapdragon AI, Robotics and XR spaces platforms across research projects and courses.
From 2009-2019, he served as the Wi-Fi R&D systems engineering lead, shaping 802.11 standards and core technologies like MU-MIMO and Mesh, and working with Qualcomm Ventures on monetization opportunities. From 2004-2008, he held engineering leadership roles on 4G (UMB) modem and standards. He received the 2013 Qualcomm IP Excellence Award and holds 298 US patents. Prior to Qualcomm, he worked at Marvell Semiconductors and was a member of the core technology team at a startup Iospan Wireless. Hemanth received the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2001.
